Worship, Discover, Grow, & Share
Our Mission
Welcoming all people to worship and discover God by growing into the character of Jesus Christ and sharing God’s love with others.
Our Vision
To see God honored through faith, curiosity, and a loving community.
Our Practices
-
Sunday worship is the heartbeat of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. In a world that can feel chaotic and draining, our ancient liturgical tradition offers a steady, life-giving rhythm.
Each week we gather to pray, sing, hear Scripture, and reflect together on God’s Word. The pattern of our service stays familiar - prayers, song, readings, and preaching - while every Sunday brings fresh words, music, and insights for every season of life.
We celebrate the Sacrament of Communion the first Sunday of each month, sharing simple bread and juice as Jesus taught us, in remembrance of him and in gratitude for God’s grace.

EPC takes to heart Paul words to the church at Philippi in Philippians 4:6–7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”At Emmanuel, we believe no one should have to carry their burdens alone.
Our Prayer Group meets every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. to lift up the needs of our church, our community, and the wider world. Some of us gather in person, some pray from home, but together we form a quiet circle of care around anyone who asks.If you would like someone to pray for you, or for someone you love, please email your request to EPCprayers97@gmail.com.
Your concerns will be held in confidence and in compassion.
It is a privilege and an honor for us to bring your joys and sorrows before God, trusting that the peace of Christ will gently guard your heart and mind.

Science suggests that most adults need about 9–12 hours of meaningful time with other people each week to support good mental health and reduce loneliness. Church can be a joyful part of that rhythm.
At Emmanuel, one hour of worship and one hour of relaxed “coffee time” afterward offer a weekly dose of music, prayer, conversation, and friendly faces.
Join us for worship and fellowship and start your week in an upbeat, encouraging way!
Congregants sign up to bring treats and tasty foods to share.
There is always a pot of coffee ready.EPC has regularly scheduled cookouts and potlucks that call the community together to connect, visit, and enjoy life in the beloved community. The men of EPC meet for lunch once a month, and we have several outings throughout the year for all.
Keep an eye on the calendar or simply send an email or call the church to get details on special services and events.
Come for worship and stay for fellowship: we would love to get to know you and for you to get to know us!
The power of community to create health and happiness in individual lives is so great and yet so simple…just show up and be yourself, knowing God loves you.
This is our hope – that you find a place at EPC where you can simply be yourself and see God’s love reflected in the folks you meet here, to equip you to be a strong, loving force in your everyday world. We are all God’s children, growing and learning every day of our lives.

EPC is shaped from year to year by the seasons of the church and the lives of the people who gather here. We follow the traditional church calendar, marking holy seasons with special services and practices that help both our community and each person grow in faith. Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, Eastertide, and Pentecost are our major holy seasons. We also celebrate the gift of all creation with a yearly Blessing of the Animals.
In the life of our community, you may find house blessings, weddings, vow renewals, cookouts with storytelling, and musical events. Keep an eye on the church calendar, or simply call or email the church office, to learn what is happening. We would love to have you join us.
People who study human behavior tell us that gentle rhythms shape us more deeply than one-time events. Our church calendar is one of those rhythms. It is like a trellis that supports living things as they grow. The seasons of the church help us practice what we will need in real life.
In Advent we practice waiting, so that when real waiting arrives we do not panic. We can breathe and trust that, even in what is difficult and new, something good may be unfolding.
At Christmas we practice welcome, so that when a new beginning comes we are more ready to receive it instead of resisting it.
During Epiphany we practice attention, so that we can notice God’s quiet hints on an ordinary Wednesday afternoon, in sunlight, in a neighbor’s voice, or in a bird’s song.
In Lent we practice honest self-examination, so that confession is not a crisis but a habit. We learn to look at ourselves with truth while being held in love, and shame does not shut us down.
In Holy Week we walk through grief with Jesus, so that our own losses are not carried alone.
At Easter we practice joy, so that celebration feels natural and not awkward.
At Pentecost we practice courage and openness, trusting that God can guide us through the strange and the new, and give us strength when needs are urgent.
During Ordinary Time we practice steadiness, so that love lasts longer than our moods. We simply show up, even when there is no big holy day, and we remember that Jesus did much of his ministry in ordinary moments, walking from town to town with his friends.
All of this is for us, to strengthen us. The church does not keep these seasons to impress God. God gives these seasons as a gift, to form us for life.

In addition to Sunday worship, with its weekly rhythm of liturgy, preaching, prayer, and song, Emmanuel Presbyterian Church offers a variety of classes and practices throughout the year that support spiritual formation.
During the season of Lent we gather to learn and practice ancient disciplines such as Lectio Divina and to explore newer contemplative practices such as Centering Prayer.
During Advent we look for ways to grow and deepen in Christ as we wait for his coming and prepare to celebrate Christmas.
Each year we offer a Blue Christmas service of hope and healing, giving to God the times when Christmas is painful or difficult.
On Emmanuel’s campus you will find a labyrinth painted on the floor of our pavilion. It is always open for anyone to use as part of a devotional practice.
You are welcome to check in at the church office for prayers and readings to use with the labyrinth, bring your own materials, or simply walk the path inward and outward, giving the Lord time and space in your day.
Some people find the labyrinth too small and need a wider space to walk out a rambling prayer with God. For that, the north field to the left of the church is kept mowed for those who wish to stop and walk, enjoy God’s creation, and breathe in the Spirit.
If you have questions about practices like these, you are welcome to reach out to Pastor Jane, who has many years of experience in spiritual formation.
Each year we also host special guest speakers and teachers who help us grow in our understanding of faith and our place in the world as Christians. Most recently, Dr. Emily Denton from Spalding University taught a month-long class on the religions of release, including Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism, and Spiritual Director Shannon Truss led a deeply restorative “Quiet Day” retreat for EPC. Dean Victor Judge from Vanderbilt Divinity School has led several classes on theological themes in the writings of Claire Keegan and Emily Dickinson.
To see what is currently being offered, please check the church calendar or drop us an email with your questions.

EPC is a quiet place of welcome all week long.
Our parking lot is a favorite spot for bicyclists who ride Highway 96 and the Natchez Trace. It offers a safe place to park and an easy place to meet before and after a ride, and we are glad to share our land in this way.During the week, many neighbors also use our campus as a meeting point for childcare pick-up and drop-off. Folks whose jobs keep them on the road sometimes stop here to eat lunch, stretch their legs, or take a short walk.
Though we are only a short drive from Nashville, Franklin, and Fairview, our property is unusually peaceful, with open fields, shade trees, and plenty of room to walk.
EPC also reaches out through active mission partnerships.
You can learn more under the “Initiatives” tab, including our support for: Oasis Nashville, GraceWorks and local food bank, Maple Village, Annual United Way Free Tax Prep services, and several others. Come get involved with us in being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ!

Become A Member 〰️
You already belong because you belong to God. All are welcome at Emmanuel, and membership is not required to participate in our ministries.
However, by becoming a member formally, you have voice and vote in congregational meetings, and in joining, you celebrate with us your commitment to Emmanuel and our commitment to you.
The questions of membership are:
Who is your Lord and Savior? Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.
Do you trust him? I do.
Do you intend to be his disciple, to obey his Word, and to show his love? I do.
Will you be a faithful member of this congregation, giving of yourself in every way you are able, and will you seek the fellowship of the church wherever you may be? I will.
Individuals may join the church by Profession of Faith and Baptism (for those who have never been baptized), by Reaffirmation of Faith (for those who are not currently active members of another Christian church), or by Transfer of Church Letter (for those on the active roll of another church.) Individuals may also choose to join as an Affiliate Member, meant for those in the Nashville area on a short-term basis who are active church members elsewhere. Especially appropriate for college students, it carries all the privileges of active membership except the right to vote in congregational meetings and hold church office.
