GATHERING SONG #399 God Welcomes All
WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you. And also, with you. Let us prepare our hearts for worship.
PRELUDE How Firm A Foundation Early American Melody, (arr. Phillip Keveren)
CALL TO WORSHIP
We gather not because one person has called us, but because Christ has called us together. We come to worship the One who is the Head of the Church. We come with different gifts, different stories, and different needs. Yet in Christ we are one body. Let us worship God together this day.
PRAYER OF INVOCATION
HYMN #65 Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious God, too often we trust our own wisdom more than your Spirit. We want our own way rather than seeking your way. We are impatient with one another, slow to listen, quick to judge, and reluctant to share together. Replace our “know-nothing hearts” and our “know-it-all hearts” with hearts that listen for you and hear you. Forgive us. Teach us humility. Give us ears to hear one another, hearts that seek your will, and courage to follow wherever Christ leads.
(moment of silence)

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Please stand with me as we say together what we believe, reciting the Apostle’s Creed: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontious Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and seated on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
